Kitsap Community Resources is seeking a welcoming, detail-oriented WIC Clerk to support our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program- a vital resource that helps families access nutrition, education, and community support during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood. As the first point of contact for many families, you'll create a warm, positive experience while assisting with appointments, eligibility, and program services. Your work helps ensure parents and young children receive the care, connection, and encouragement they need to thrive.

The WIC Clerk position provides clerical and reception support to our Bremerton WIC location. You will be responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, providing counseling and nutritional education for clients under the direction of the WIC Manager or Site Supervisor, and documenting nutrition services, goals and literature provided in the client's file.

Qualifications:

1. Required Education: High school diploma or GED
2. Preferred Education: AA degree in nutrition
3. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus
4. Preferred 2 years of experience in clerical setting
5. Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

1. Must demonstrate recognition and compassion for low-income peoples.
2. Good public relations, communication, and educational skills needed.
3. Must be aware and sensitive to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
4. Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
5. Demonstrated successful experience in preparing and processing documentation following relevant process and guidelines.

License(s) and/or Certifications:

1. Valid Washington State Driver's License (to operate company vehicles and/or utilize other vehicles for company business)
2. Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile. (to operate company vehicles and/or utilize other vehicles for company business)

Essential Physical and Mental Functions:

1. Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting, twisting and bending.
2. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
3. Requires accuracy, good communication, judgment, and the ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information.

Responsibilities - Included but are not limited to:

1. Report to and accept assignments from the WIC Manager and or Site Supervisor.
2. Learn and apply state WIC regulations pertaining to WIC program procedures, policies, and practices, noting revisions during the program year.
3. Conduct preliminary client interviews for intake services and appointment scheduling.
4. Make appropriate referrals to other community agencies when necessary.
5. Provide front desk coverage for walk ins and phone calls as needed.
6. Perform clerical duties to include typing, filing, telephone services, appointment scheduling, ordering and WIC benefit issuance.
7. Ensure accuracy and timely completion and submittal of WIC eligibility determination.
8. Update community resource list as applicable to WIC families.
9. Provide Nutrition Education.
10. Help manage clinic flow with separation of duties and keep on track with appointment schedule.
11. Maintain WIC lobby to ensure a welcoming, safe, and sanitary environment.
12. Timely completion and implementation of all Clerk trainings, prior to starting Certifier Training.
13. Participate in in-services, health fairs, community meetings, and job-related education programs.
14. Assist in the development and office organization of nutrition education displays, posters, literature, and other creative projects.
15. Attend and participate in unit, division, and agency staff meetings.
16. Other duties as needed to maintain clinic flow and serve all clients.
