Event Staff

Overview

The Field Department’s Advocacy Team is the frontline engine of The SpreadYourHeart Organization (SYH). As an Event Staff Volunteer, you play a vital role in executing our high-impact activations—including landmark galas, Resource Collection Drives, live showcases, and community projects.

We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and energetic team members to create welcoming, seamless, and dignified experiences for our guests, community partners, and clients.

Event Staff members rotate across four primary operational stations based on event needs and personal strengths:

1. Greeters & Guest Experience
   • Serve as the welcoming face of SYH, greeting attendees, VIP guests, and clients with warmth and enthusiasm.
   • Manage registration desks, check-in rosters, name badges, and guest directional flow.
   • Provide information regarding SYH campaigns and direct guests to venue amenities or seating areas.
2. Setup & Strike Crew (Logistics)
   • Assist with load-in and staging prior to event start (setting up folding tables, chairs, tablecloths, banners, and collection bins).
   • Transform community spaces into polished event venues (e.g., setting white-linen dining tables).
   • Execute post-event breakdown, load-out, inventory packing, and full venue sanitization.
3. Banquet & Table Servers
   • Execute multi-course meal service for formal events.
   • Serve food and beverages directly to guests with hospitality and social grace, adhering to food safety guidelines.
   • Clear courses, refill water stations, and ensure guest dining needs are attentively met.
4. Bussers & Floor Support
   • Maintain clean, hazard-free, and dignified event environments throughout the activation.
   • Clear trash, bus dining tables between courses, and replenish service stations.
   • Assist kitchen prep teams with tray loading, dish organization, and service line flow.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Character & Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, active listening, and a heart for community service.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and assist with event setup/breakdown for shifts lasting 3–5 hours.
• Reliability: Punctuality and commitment to completing assigned event shifts.
• Ethics & Dignity: Commitment to upholding SYH’s standards of human dignity, social empathy, and trauma-informed care when engaging with vulnerable populations.
