Primary Care Physician

Overview

The Primary Care Physician (PCP) is a licensed/board‑certified or eligible professional in internal or family medicine responsible for direct patient care in ambulatory settings. The PCP provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and care planning, and participates in clinical rounds, conferences, and risk and quality management programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform geriatric assessments, medical histories, physical examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Develop plans of care, provide health education, and coordinate specialty referrals and case management.
• Maintain accurate documentation according to ChenMed standards.
• Participate in clinical rounds, conferences, and in‑depth progress note documentation.
• Operate independently as a primary care practitioner and collaborate with other health professionals.
• Write admission, transfer, and discharge orders.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
• Order medications and treatments, and consult appropriate specialists.
• Initiate life‑saving procedures when necessary.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve health‑care delivery and implement new practice patterns.
• Advocate for patients and provide family education through conferences.
• Manage resource utilization, reimbursement, and discharge planning to appropriate levels of care.

• Use technology to improve knowledge management and patient care.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written formats.

Education and Experience

• MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty.
• Current state medical license; Board certification or eligibility preferred.
• DEA number for schedule II–V controlled substances.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of employment.

Compensation

Pay Range: $214,700 – $306,714 annually.
