Help Desk Specialist

We are seeking a customer-focused Help Desk Technician to join our IT team on a 4-month contract-to-hire basis. During the initial contract period, you will work onsite to learn the environment, build relationships with end users, and gain familiarity with company systems and processes. Upon successful completion of the contract and conversion to a full-time employee, the position will transition to a primarily remote work arrangement, with occasional onsite visits as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with approximately 2 years of help desk or desktop support experience looking to grow within a stable organization. Responsibilities Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to end users via phone, email, chat, and remote support tools. Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and common business applications. Resolve hardware, software, printer, VPN, and connectivity issues. Create, document, update, and close tickets within the IT service management system while meeting SLA expectations. Install, configure, and support desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and mobile devices. Perform password resets, user account creation, and group membership management within Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). Support remote employees with VPN and remote access troubleshooting. Escalate complex issues to senior infrastructure or application support teams when appropriate. Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to the internal knowledge base. Deliver outstanding customer service while communicating technical concepts to non-technical users. Required Qualifications Approximately 2 years of Help Desk, Service Desk, or Desktop Support experience. Experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications. Experience with Active Directory user administration. Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Freshservice, Zendesk, or similar. Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and Wi-Fi. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting remote users. Exposure to Microsoft Intune or endpoint management tools. Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
