Server Engineer

Responsibilities Designing disaster recovery plans and enforcing backup and archive procedures. Designing and implementing solutions for data storage and maintenance. Upgrading software, applying patches, and ensuring the physical and electronic security of data. Monitor and manage daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media locations. Provide support per request from team members and system users. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures using root cause analysis practices. Coordinate and communicate with impacted organizations. Lead and oversee any projects the team is actively working related to backup, storage, and DR. Create technology road maps; set and shape the direction of the backup and storage environments. Perform daily system monitoring and maintenance of backup and storage environment. Creating specific reports and KPI metrics for performance, data usage, and capacity planning using office automation applications. Develop documentation to include systems architecture, maintenance and operations procedures. Purchase new equipment and annual licensing/maintenance renewals while maintaining capital and operational budgetary requirements. Assist with maintaining the virtual environment and Cisco UCS blade infrastructure. Assist with managing a multi-domain, multi-forest Windows domain environment. Assist with managing Exchange O365 and support the continued effort to move additional collaboration services to O365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Skype, Teams, etc.). Scripting via PowerShell, VB and batch files. Follows ITIL framework / best practices. Implement solutions to optimize the infrastructure operations, and for conducting research and development to ensure continual innovation as needed. Qualifications At least 3-5 years of experience designing and maintaining servers and systems’ infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with the following: Microsoft Technologies: Windows Server /2012/2016/2019/2022, MECM, IIS, SQL Clustering, Client Operating Systems. Virtualization technologies: VMware. Storage technologies: iSCSI, Fiber Channel, replication and archival. Experience in the implementation and execution of enterprise replication, backup, and recovery; both policies/procedures and solutions. Experience in managing Disaster Recovery including a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Business needs and requirements development. Experience with IT Operations Process models. Experience with requirements analysis, systems design, full lifecycle development/management. Strong experience in hardware engineering, performance analysis, engineering, and data center operations including standup and maintenance. Understanding of networking technology fundamentals; routing, switching, firewalls and wireless technology. Understanding and demonstrated experience with Active Directory Domain services; ADUC, ADSS, ADFS, DFS, GPOs, DHCP and DNS.
