Location: Laredo, Texas — on-site preferred. Open to hybrid for the right person, based in Nuevo Laredo or Monterrey with regular days in Laredo.

Pay: $22.50 – $28.00 per hour, depending on experience. Plus profit sharing tied to company performance and a genuine path to equity.

About Universal Flow Controls

Universal Flow Controls is a broker for industrial materials. For over 30 years we've imported and exported steel products like pipe, valves, fittings, flanges, and plate, sourcing for Mexican companies that need material both inside and outside Mexico. We work through a unique supplier network that's active worldwide and partner with the best manufacturers in each product category, which lets us offer flexible solutions: material in stock and made-to-order custom manufacturing. We specialize in hard-to-find products and alloys, and we're a one-stop shop for procurement teams across Mexican OEMs, EPCs, metal service centers, manufacturers, and end users.

Our main distribution center is in Laredo, Texas, in the premier industrial park closest to the city and just three miles from the international bridge.

Now we're building what comes next: smart industrial procurement finance tools that give industrial buyers access to both capital and material. We're going all in on AI and plan to make cross border industrial procurement a seamless experience for our customers.

The seat

We're hiring a Finance and Administration Manager to take full ownership of our financial apparatus.

This is not a bookkeeping seat. You will own the numbers, the story behind them, and the decisions that come out of them. You'll start as the sole owner of the function and build and lead the finance and compliance team as the company grows.

The work is real, and so is the leverage: you'll have custom AI agents at your disposal, and you'll build the tools you need alongside management.

What you'll own

Financial storytelling and reporting
- Close month-end within the first week of the following month. Every month.
- Present our numbers to the management team on a weekly and monthly cadence — not raw reports, but a clear story leadership can act on.
- Design the metrics and the reporting rhythm themselves. You decide what we should be looking at, and you make it repeatable.

Order economics
- Sit inside our order onboarding process meeting, where the numbers and expected profitability of each order get set up front.
- At the end of the order, calculate what we actually made: true profit after COGS, landed cost, and financing costs.
- Close the order out once we've been paid.

Financial control and structure
- Build and manage our budgets alongside management.
- Implement financial structures like Profit First so we have real control over where money sits and where it goes.
- Monitor our cash conversion cycle and measure profitability per order.

Cash and capital
- Build our cash flow forecast alongside management, and keep it current.
- Work directly with the operations team to get invoices paid as early as possible, through smart strategies throughout the order lifecycle rather than reminder emails.
- Grow credit available to us from our supplier base.
- Increase our working capital through funding strategies and access to external capital sources.

Margin and goals
- Review profit data to find where margin is being lost and where it can be improved.
- Work with the sales team on minimum markup floors and on the strategies that produce better numbers at the moment a deal closes.
- Set sales goals with management and track our progress against them, so we always know whether we're on pace.

Accounts payable integrity
- Ensure every vendor bill is captured in our ERP. At any moment, you know which bills are missing.
- Ensure our vendors are paid on time, every time.

Company purchasing and vendor administration
- Handle purchasing for the company: warehouse supplies and office supplies.
- Manage the service vendors that keep the operation running — pest control, forklift mechanics, building maintenance, cleaning services — including the administrative work behind those relationships.

Compliance and onboarding
- Establish our compliance function from the ground up.
- Own customer and supplier onboarding.

How your performance will be measured

We'll be direct about this, because it's how you'll be evaluated:

1. Credit available to us from our supplier base goes up.
2. Our average days to get paid goes down.
3. Company profitability improves, Cash Conversion Cycle improves

Everything else in this role exists to move those three numbers primarily.

You work three steps ahead

You don't wait for the month to end to know how it went. You see it coming.

- You anticipate what management needs to decide before you're asked for the number.
- You flag a cash position, a slipping collection, or a margin problem while there's still time to act on it.
- You know the state of our payables and receivables without having to go look.
- You bring the analysis to the table, not just the data.

We're all in on AI. Agentic workflows, AI agents, and proprietary algorithms built on our own data. You'll have custom agents built to assist you in your work, and you'll build more of them with management as we go.

You don't need to have mastered any of this. You need to be resourceful, curious, and willing to figure things out. You'll learn it with us.

What we're looking for

- A solid foundation in finance or accounting, with real experience owning financial statements, close, and reporting.
- Comfort with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control — and the analytical instinct to read financial data, spot trends, and turn them into a recommendation.
- Someone who wants to own an entire function rather than execute a task list. This seat grows into a business unit. We are looking for someone that brings something to the table. We are positioned to grow exponentially and whoever is a part of the team that gets us there will be compensated way beyond what we are offering.
- High integrity and obsessive attention to accuracy. The numbers have to be right.
- Strong English and Spanish, written and spoken is a plus. Our work is cross-border every day.
- Resourceful and genuinely curious about AI. You don't need to be an expert, you need to want to build with it.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA or CMA is a plus.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or logistics sectors is a plus.
- A valid US visa is a strong advantage if you're based in Mexico, since the work is in Laredo.
