Position Introduction:
Join the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) at the University of Oklahoma (College of Continuing Education/Outreach) and be part of a team dedicated to improving the effectiveness of human services through training, consultation, and technical assistance in Oklahoma and across the nation for over 50 years. NRCYS is a leader in youth service philosophy, best practices, and youth engagement. This position supports the Oklahoma Successful Adulthood program (OKSA). It assists eligible current and former foster youth's transition into adulthood through various services, including individualized assistance and connection to statewide resources and services. The Community Outreach Coordinator provides specialized consultation to both young people and professionals, functioning as a subject matter expert in youth engagement, transition planning, life skills education, and statewide community resources. Our goal is to ensure that young people have the tools and resources needed for a successful transition to adulthood and are empowered to plan for their future outside of foster care. This position will have a role in partnerships with community organizations and housing authorities to develop housing pathways. The ideal candidate will need to possess a positive attitude, be customer service-oriented, have strong communication and organizational skills, and enjoy talking to people daily.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer the statewide toll-free Helpline during office hours and provide excellent customer service to youth, young adults, and their supportive adults in a trauma-informed manner, connecting them with available resources and supports to assist them in successfully transitioning out of foster care.
- Create and maintain procedural documents, and develop best-practice tools and resources to support accurate and efficient service documentation.
- Determine the eligibility of youth who request services, submit referrals to community partners, and maintain accurate records of all services.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills of legislation, best practices, and trends in child, youth, and family services.
- Identify, facilitate, and participate in internal and external collaborations on current trends, best practices, and program development. Provide consultation to adult partners on how to complete OKSA-related tasks, provide trauma-informed services, and encourage positive youth development.
- Connect with community resource providers, including housing authorities, to collaborate on increasing housing pathways, develop referral processes, and strengthen existing relationships.
- Utilize data to guide work-related decisions, including incorporating youth voice in all aspects of the work.
- Uphold, safeguard, and engage in activities to support the University's mission, NRCYS¿ vision, mission, values, and core principles.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 12 months experience in community outreach activities or health education.
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in social work, human services, or a closely related field.
- 24 months of experience in supporting youth in a successful transition to adulthood, youth work, youth development, and leadership activities, or trauma-responsive service provision.
- Collaborating with public and private child welfare and/or child and youth-serving organizations
- Knowledge regarding environmental and relational permanency
- National child welfare federal legislation, practices, policies, and initiatives
- Data collection and management
- Community housing partnerships
- Demonstrable youth/adult engagement skills
- Effectively convey information clearly and concisely, utilizing both oral and written communication
- Possess a proactive mindset with the ability to think critically, problem-solve, and exercise professional judgment.
- Ability to provide high-quality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines and minimal supervision
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/deadlines while working efficiently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable with public speaking and serving as a meeting facilitator
