The Admixture Technician plays a critical role within the pharmacy and clinical care team by accurately and efficiently preparing medications to support patient treatment. This position focuses on the technical aspects of medication preparation, sterile compounding, inventory management, and clean room operations while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. It offers an excellent opportunity for a Certified Pharmacy Technician to gain hands-on experience in IV admixture and oncology pharmacy practices through structured on-the-job training within an established specialty practice.

Responsibilities

• Verify and prepare medications accurately according to provider orders and established protocols.
• Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous medications in accordance with USP 797, USP 800, OSHA, and internal policies.
• Utilize proper sterile technique while mixing medications under the biological safety cabinet (hood).
• Accurately label all medications prior to administration, ensuring correct patient, drug, dose, route, and timing.
• Manage medication inventory by monitoring stock levels, rotating stock, and maintaining appropriate par levels.
• Receive, inspect, and document incoming medication inventory in accordance with pharmacy procedures.
• Review treatment schedules and assist with ordering medications to ensure availability for scheduled therapies.
• Maintain clean room standards by following established sanitation procedures and environmental monitoring requirements.
• Coordinate closely with nurses and providers to ensure timely availability of medications for patient care.
• Respond appropriately to hazardous spills and emergency situations, following safety and containment protocols.
• Schedule and coordinate pharmaceutical waste disposal in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Maintain active Pharmacy Technician certification and complete all required training and continuing education.
• Follow detailed preparation procedures consistently with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
• Support oncology and specialty care services by preparing medications used in infusion and admixture settings.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment by communicating effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and providers.

Essential Skills

• Active Pharmacy Technician certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience handling medications in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, such as retail pharmacy or physician dispensing.
• Ability to follow detailed preparation procedures consistently with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong mathematical aptitude to perform precise calculations for medication preparation and dosing.

• IV admixture experience.
• Sterile compounding experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
• Hands-on experience working under USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
• Oncology pharmacy experience, particularly in an infusion or admixture environment.
• Experience working in a clean room setting with hazardous and non-hazardous medications.
• Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and stock control.
• Demonstrated ability to memorize and retain detailed technical information and protocols.

Work Environment

This role is based in a specialty pharmacy admixture and infusion environment in Salem, Oregon, supporting oncology and other specialty care patients. The Admixture Technician works primarily in clean room settings, handling both hazardous and non-hazardous medications while collaborating closely with pharmacists, nurses, and providers. The environment demands strict adherence to safety, quality, and sterile compounding procedures, including compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and OSHA standards. This is a full-time position with rotating weekday and weekend shifts. Weekday shifts typically include an opening shift from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, a mid shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and a closing shift from 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Weekend shifts generally run from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and from approximately 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Every other weekend is required, and some holidays are also required. Technicians receive an additional 10% shift differential for weekend hours worked. The work environment emphasizes teamwork, precision, and patient-centered care. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.94 - $35.48/hr.
