Senior Research Associate

Senior Research Associate Under general supervision, the Senior Research Associate will play a central role in the design, management, and analysis of complex research datasets derived from clinical, laboratory, and large‑scale database sources. The role requires working closely with multidisciplinary investigators and collaborators to produce high‑quality analytic products, scientific reports, and peer‑reviewed publications. The position contributes directly to Warfighter musculoskeletal health and injury prevention initiatives, supporting collaborative research programs with partners across the USC enterprise, the U.S. Army, and academic institutions. Full‑time, 40 hours per week, located in Columbia, SC. Salary Range: $63,557 – $95,336. Responsibilities Data Analysis & Management : Lead data management, cleaning, and preparation of analytic datasets across multiple studies, applying advanced statistical methods and performing multivariable modeling. Statistical Design : Develop and implement statistical analysis plans in collaboration with investigators, integrating diverse data streams such as clinical records, imaging, biomarkers, and questionnaires. Research Dissemination : Contribute to the interpretation of research findings and support the development of manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for scholarly dissemination. Program Support : Support Warfighter musculoskeletal injury and performance initiatives across USC, the Army, and academic partnerships, as well as Veterans Affairs‑related research programs examining musculoskeletal health and functional outcomes. Methods & Quality : Provide methodological guidance to research staff and trainees, ensuring analytic rigor, reproducibility, and regulatory compliance. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree and five years of experience in a research specialty. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related quantitative field. Experience supporting federally funded research programs. Background in musculoskeletal, orthopedic, injury, or human performance research. Experience working with clinical, administrative, or military datasets. Experience supporting clinical or translational research programs. Demonstrated scholarly productivity (peer‑reviewed publications, presentations). Skills & Abilities Advanced statistical and analytical reasoning, including regression and longitudinal methods. Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., SAS or similar platforms). Experience managing, integrating, and analyzing complex, multi‑source datasets. Ability to translate analytic findings into clear, actionable insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. High attention to detail and data accuracy. Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with experience working across disciplines.
