Outpatient Audiologist, Multiple Locations (Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem)

Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluation to include pure tone air and bone conduction audiometry, speech reception threshold and speech discrimination. Conduct tympanometry, acoustic reflex threshold testing, and reflex decay testing. Conduct brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) testing for both the identification of hearing loss, and to rule out retrocochlear pathology. Conduct infant hearing screening utilizing the BAER screener and/or otoacoustic emissions. Conduct electronystagmography. Conduct industrial audiometry to include on site sound level measurement as needed. Interpret test results, and communicate written and/or oral results to patients, families, physicians, and other agencies as appropriate. Recommend further testing, medical follow‑up, or rehabilitation (e.g., amplification) based upon results obtained through procedures. Counsel patient regarding rehabilitation/habilitation options. Provide hearing aid services including comparative evaluation, probe tube assessment, hearing aid delivery and orientation, follow‑up and maintenance. Refer to other services with SLH (e.g., Speech Pathology) or outside agencies (e.g., OVR, special education placement) as appropriate. Education The Clinical Audiologist must have a master’s or doctorate degree in audiology from an accredited institution. Physical and Sensory Requirements Sitting up to 7 hours per day, usually 0–2 consecutive hours; standing up to 6 hours per day, usually 1–2 consecutive hours. Continuous fingering, handling, and twisting of audiometric equipment controls and servicing hearing aids. Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Occasional stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, crawling. Frequently reach above shoulder height and extend arms forward. Touch to inspect earmold or hearing aid conditions. Hearing as required for accurate speech audiometry and normal conversation. Seeing for general vision, near and far, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Speaking as required for accurate speech audiometry and normal conversation. Training and Experience Possession of Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC‑A) in audiology from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association is desired. Clinical Fellowship Year candidates are considered with supervision by an audiologist who possesses CCC‑A. Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey license in audiology. Current Basic Life Support certification. Shift Details Full time, 36–40 hours per week Part time, 16–36 hours per week Per diem, 16 hours or less per week Locations open Monday‑Friday. Hours vary depending on location. Closed for the six major holidays with pay dependent on FTE status.
