Description:
The Facilities Supervisor oversees the maintenance, repair, improvement, and safe operation of company facilities, grounds, utilities, equipment infrastructure, and building systems. This position is responsible for leading maintenance operations, coordinating facility improvement projects, managing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and applicable building codes.
This role serves as a key operational leader responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and functional manufacturing environment while supporting long-term facility planning and capital improvement initiatives. In addition to facility and maintenance responsibilities, this position may also provide operational leadership, oversight, and supervision of assigned production departments as needed to support business operations, staffing coverage, workflow coordination, and manufacturing objectives.
Requirements:Supervisory Responsibilities
· Hire, train, and onboard maintenance department staff, including training on safety procedures, equipment use, and regulatory requirements.
· Organize, assign, and oversee maintenance staff schedules and daily work activities.
· Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations, including adherence to safety practices and procedures.
· Enforce company policies and safety rules, address performance or safety issues through coaching, discipline, or corrective action as appropriate.
· Handle employee discipline and termination in accordance with company policy and applicable employment regulations.
Job Duties Description
· Oversee day-to-day operations of the maintenance department to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
· Inspect, evaluate, and assess building systems and facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, or required repairs.
· Plan work assignments, preventive maintenance programs, and project schedules for building systems.
· Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance procedures that align with OSHA standards and applicable building codes.
· Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed correctly, safely, and within established timelines.
· Monitor work practices to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and other safety protocols.
· Conduct or coordinate routine safety inspections and address identified hazards or deficiencies.
· Assist with departmental budget development, including cost estimates for maintenance, repairs, and safety-related improvements.
· Maintain records related to maintenance activities, inspections, training, and compliance as required.
· Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
· Respond to facility-related emergencies and safety concerns as needed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
· Extensive knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
· Strong understanding of workplace safety principles and applicable OSHA regulations.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to identify facility issues, safety hazards, and required repairs.
· Ability to plan and manage preventive maintenance schedules and repair projects.
· Excellent leadership, supervisory, and communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
· Ability to enforce policies, procedures, and safety standards consistently.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of five (5) years of facilities or maintenance experience required, including supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to traverse buildings, grounds, and facilities to inspect systems, identify hazards, and plan or perform repairs.
· Ability to physically perform maintenance and repairs when necessary, including climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to safely perform all job duties in compliance with OSHA standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
