What You Will Do As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will join a cross-disciplinary team supporting both new product development and current manufacturing of sensors for the aviation industry. You will contribute to the mechanical design, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of a variety of sensors used in aerospace sensor systems, working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to bring designs from concept to production. Support existing products with investigations, design improvements, and documentation updates Perform tolerance analysis on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function Use CAD solid modeling techniques to prepare components and assembly models and drawings Write test requests, supporting design verification and testing. Analyze test data Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing What You Will Learn This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development, regulations, and gain experience in presenting technical information. Qualifications You Must Have Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session. Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software such as Creo and/or SolidWorks Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects. Qualifications We Prefer Experience with mechanical design and modeling software such as ANSYS and/or MATLAB A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint) Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
