Police Aide

Job Overview Posted: May 14, 2026 Salary: $18.56 - $20.51 per Hour (USD) The Position The City of Claremont Police Department is looking for highly energetic, motivated self‑starters who are of the highest moral character to assist in the performance of a wide variety of routine law enforcement support duties. Police Aides are utilized in various areas within the Police Department, including Records, Overnight Parking, and Traffic. Police Aides are often filled by individuals who are interested in a future career in law enforcement while attending college, as well as those who are not interested in becoming Police Officers but enjoy an environment of working with and helping people. Position is part‑time and hours range from approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. Assignments may involve shift work, including nights, or set hours during normal business hours. Work days and hours are assigned by the Bureau supervisor to meet department needs. All assignments are made at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Typical Duties Assisting with training sessions Issuing parking tickets Setting‑up police equipment in the field Assisting at the front counter and Records Bureau Answering phone inquiries Assisting officers with a variety of field activities Maintaining property and evidence Assisting with jail operations Serving as Court Liaison Officer Assuming duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency Qualifications Experience: Previous law enforcement‑related experience is not required, but is desired. Education: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated from high school (or hold a GED certificate). Completion of some college coursework in law enforcement or a related field is desirable. Licenses: Possession of a valid California State Class C driver’s license. Application Process Candidate applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Successful candidates will be invited to attend a panel interview. The panel interview will be held on June 15, 2026. A background investigation will be conducted. Applicants must have a drug‑free history, no involvement in criminal activity (whether arrested or not), good credit, and a solid work history.
