Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend and Every Other Holiday Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for observation patients including chest pain, abdominal pain, post-operative, and infusion cases requiring blood or antibiotics
• Manage high patient turnover in a fast-paced environment, including multiple admissions and discharges within a single 12-hour shift
• Perform IV starts, Foley catheter insertion, dressing changes, and other standard nursing procedures
• Administer and scan medications accurately using an automated narcotic dispensing system
• Document patient care using an electronic medical records system
• Float to other Medical-Surgical areas on the same rotation schedule as permanent staff, as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active North Dakota RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Experience caring for pre- and post-operative observation patients
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high patient turnover

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with automated medication dispensing systems
• Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical or observation unit setting
