Adjunct Faculty Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.Major ResponsibilitiesInstructionDeliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and following college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.Communicate with program chair to ensure the classroom and instructional laboratory environment are conducive to student learning and in adherence to federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.Use Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.Communicate with program chair to develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials in keeping with and furtherance of course objectives and program learning outcomes.Ensures knowledge and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.Ensure academic activities are planned to span the full time class, lab, and clinical are scheduled.Enrollment Management, Student Retention, and Student SuccessMonitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, and referrals to appropriate college resources.Professional DevelopmentParticipate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.Ensure completion of professional development required to maintain professional licensure.Meet all professional development requirements of program accreditor.Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.Maintain strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to professional area of instruction.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.Minimum QualificationsCNA Course StandardA qualified faculty member teaching the didactic portion of CNA Preparation meets all three of the following criteria:Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana andHas a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, andHas completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer,One of the following:Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory ORHolds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.CNA Clinical (only) StandardA qualified faculty member teaching the lab or clinical portions of CNA Preparation meets both of the following criteria:Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, andHas a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.This is an adjunct faculty position.Application Requirements: To ensure full consideration, applicants must submit unofficial transcripts.
