Tour Guide

Asheville Rooftop Bar Tours is looking for an outgoing, dependable, and engaging tour guide who loves Asheville and enjoys sharing what makes our city special with visitors and locals alike. Our tours are about much more than visiting rooftop bars. Guides lead guests through downtown Asheville while sharing stories about the city’s history, architecture, culture, and people. Along the way, guests visit some of Asheville’s most distinctive rooftop venues, enjoy incredible views, and experience the city from a perspective they might never discover on their own. What We're Looking For The right person for this role genuinely loves people . You should be comfortable welcoming strangers, leading groups, starting conversations, answering questions, and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels included and has a great time. You don’t need to arrive knowing every detail of Asheville history—we’ll provide training and tour materials—but you should have a genuine interest in Asheville, local history, architecture, hospitality, and storytelling , along with an enthusiasm for continuing to learn. Just as importantly, we need someone who is reliable . Our guests have made reservations, our rooftop partners have prepared for our arrival, and the rest of the tour depends on the guide being where they need to be, prepared, and on time. Responsibilities Lead engaging walking tours through downtown Asheville and its rooftop venues. Share entertaining and accurate stories about Asheville history, architecture, landmarks, and culture. Create a warm, welcoming experience for guests of different ages and backgrounds. Keep groups organized and tours moving according to schedule without making guests feel rushed. Communicate professionally with guests, rooftop partners, restaurant and bar staff, and other team members. Help guests with photos and recommendations and answer questions about Asheville. Follow established tour routes, procedures, and safety guidelines. Represent Asheville Rooftop Bar Tours professionally at all times. Schedule & Flexibility This is a part-time position with a variable schedule based on tour bookings. Most tours take place in the afternoon and evening, with weekends and peak tourism periods being especially important. Because tour schedules change with demand, flexibility is essential . The ideal candidate will be able to accommodate a changing schedule and occasionally accept tours with limited advance notice. At the same time, once you commit to leading a tour, we need to know we can count on you. You May Be a Great Fit If You... Love Asheville and enjoy introducing other people to the city. Are naturally friendly, outgoing, and comfortable speaking in front of groups. Enjoy meeting new people and can easily engage guests in conversation. Have an interest in history, architecture, hospitality, food, cocktails, or tourism. Are a confident storyteller who can make facts entertaining and memorable. Can manage a group while remaining relaxed, personable, and attentive. Are punctual, responsible, organized, and dependable. Are comfortable walking and standing for approximately three hours and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Have flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Most Important We're looking for someone guests will remember. A great Asheville Rooftop Bar Tours guide doesn't simply recite facts or lead people from one rooftop to another. You are the host of their Asheville experience.
