Position Purpose

Tasks

• Seek opportunities and challenges in a manner that maximizes profit to PGL while reducing PGL customer supply chain cost
• Cooperating with PGL cross-functional teams to accomplish organizational objectives
• Facilitating day to day shipment activity
• Providing status updates to customers
• Responsible for processing all shipment/transportation activities for key customer accounts
• Providing instructions to external agents per SOP
• Processing quoted shipments with operations specialists and agents
• Handling import shipments from origin pickup to delivery
• Following up with agents on status of shipments
• Providing updates to customers
• Updating info and accruing all costs in the operating system
• Adhering to established customer SOP

Work Activities

• Selecting shipment routes, based on nature of goods shipped, transit times, or security needs.
• Determining efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods from one location to another.
• Reserving necessary space on ships, aircraft, trains, or trucks.
• Arranging delivery or storage of goods at destinations.
• Arranging for special transport of sensitive cargoes, such as livestock, food, or medical supplies.
• Assisting clients in obtaining insurance reimbursements.
• Calculating weight, volume, or cost of goods to be moved.
• Completing shipping documentation, such as including bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, and certificates of origin.
• Consolidating loads with a common destination to reduce costs to individual shippers.
• Informing clients of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Years of Experience: 3-5 Years of International Freight Forwarding experience

Education: Industry related degree and/or certification

Knowledge

Transportation Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Customer and Personal Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Administration and Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
