Job Description

The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) demonstrates critical thinking skills, judgment, and leadership in the practice of laboratory technology. The Lab Technician is responsible and accountable for the efficient planning, directing, and accurate provision of all laboratory testing for inpatients and outpatients. The technician practices in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, regulatory standards, recognized testing techniques, and administrative policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform all laboratory testing in areas including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and active leadership in laboratory practices.
• Effectively manage laboratory workflow for inpatients and outpatients.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
• Ability to rotate in all areas of the laboratory as required.
