Description:

Examine, check, and gauge a wide variety of castings for flaws and defects; refer to quality cards for specifications and requirements.

• Inspect castings and grind surfaces not completed by the robot.
• Inspect castings of various sizes and design complexities using measuring instruments and tools such as calipers, surface and depth gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, dental mirrors, targeting and qualifying fixtures, and lights to ensure they conform to customer specifications and requirements
• Record all information required by containment plans, process cards and sample procedures, and input into information systems or complete appropriate documents. Notify supervisor of results.
• Perform visual casting inspection and use various measuring instruments and tools to inspect castings. Notify appropriate supervisor of quality concerns as necessary.
• Record all scrap on appropriate log or information system and forward information or suspect castings to appropriate department.
• Must be able to work with a team and independently.
• Train new employees in defect analysis and data retrieval.
• Knowledge of commercial casting requirements and machine shop practices.

Use of PPE Required

Steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 04:30am-2:30pm, overtime as needed
