Senior Project Engineer – Utility Systems MV Solutions We are seeking a senior project engineer to take end‑to‑end ownership across the generation, transmission, and distribution (GTD) value chain. This is a true career pathway—offering direct customer impact and a clear trajectory to expand into offers engineering, business development, and project leadership. This hybrid position is based at our corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Technical Authority & Solution Ownership: Lead technical outcomes for MV substation and utility projects from feasibility to handover. Review and approve one‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and protection/control/automation philosophies. Customer‑Facing & Commercial Partnership: Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, utilities, and EPC partners; collaborate closely with internal teams to influence solution strategies and order decisions. Multi‑functional & System Integration Leadership: Drive engineering execution (design coordination, manufacturing support, and commissioning) and integrate Siemens and third‑party technologies, including MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, PLCs/SCADA, and E‑Houses. Mentorship & Continuous Improvement: Mentor junior engineers, influence technical standards, and lead initiatives to improve engineering quality, scalability, and efficiency. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Eight (8) or more years’ experience designing and delivering electrical power distribution, substation, or utility systems, with a strong track record evaluating customer specifications and delivering optimized system solutions. Proven knowledge of Medium Voltage protection and control technologies (SCADA, IEC 61850, DNP3). Proficiency reviewing electrical schematics and identifying risks, gaps, and improvements. Experience managing Bills of Material in an ERP environment (SAP preferred). Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications Experience with MV switchgear, E‑House solutions, third‑party integration, factory testing, and site commissioning. Track record of mentoring engineers and elevating team performance. Ability to handle contending priorities while maintaining technical precision. Solid understanding of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards. Advanced proficiency with Engineering Base (strongly preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical. Master's degree in Engineering (Power Systems) or equivalent field. Experience using Salesforce or other CRM in a technical sales or solution support environment. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
