Manages daily plant operation functions in a safe manner to ensure production schedules and requirements are achieved on a quality, timely and cost-effective basis. Ensures compliance with government regulations pertaining to environmental controls, hazardous waste management and safety. Drives a positive safety culture by setting a good example and by continually improving effectiveness of safety training and programs Develops and maintains manufacturing operation business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle and production costs. Cultivates a culture of teamwork Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. Ensures all established costs, quality, safety and delivery commitments are met. Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions for the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment. Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division. Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Assures maintenance programs are carried out, and production interruption is minimized through consistent preventative maintenance follow up. Recommend system improvements and plans for upgrading productivity. Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations. Directs preparation of accounting records. Participates in annual budgeting process. Responsible for operating and capital budget development and attainment. Visits competitors and related company facilities to maintain a current knowledge of methods and costs typical of the industry’s best/worst companies. Attends meetings, trade shows, seminars, etc. to maintain current knowledge of best practices applicable to the management of manufacturing operations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions. Qualifications Education: Bachelors preferred or, Experience: Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. License/Certification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing methods. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
