Position Details Department: PCH-MAIN | Audiology Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Therapies Posting #: 1003246 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary Phoenix Children's is home to the largest team of pediatric audiologists in the Phoenix area, with each audiologist bringing specialized expertise in pediatric diagnostics and hearing device technologies. Our audiology team collaborates closely with an array of specialties—including ENT, speech pathology, hematology, neonatology, oncology—and community partners such as school districts, pediatricians, and early intervention specialists to provide comprehensive, family‑centered care for children and their families. We are currently seeking an Audiologist to join our growing team. The role involves providing high‑quality, evidence‑based audiologic care to pediatric patients and families and requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to patient care. Position Duties Provides Diagnostic Audiology Assessments Seeks advice from other audiologists as needed. Selects appropriate diagnostic assessments—evoked potentials, otoacoustic emissions, tympanometry, conditioned play, etc.—based on age of child, developmental level, reason for visit, medical history, and department guidelines. Uses age‑appropriate communication style, obtains and interprets age‑specific audiometric data correctly using department norms, and demonstrates knowledge of normal growth progression and developmental milestones. Effectively interviews parents prior to formal evaluation, communicates results, recommendations, and financial resources, and involves families in care plans and educational activities. Treatment Seeks advice from other audiologists when treating patients with complex hearing loss or syndromes. Selects, fits, and checks hearing aids according to department guidelines, refers appropriate patients to the cochlear implant team, submits correct codes for pre‑access insurance verification, uses assistance contract or tracking sheet consistently, and documents and charges for amplification within 24 hours. Documentation Accurately completes documentation and charges within 24 hours. Provides clear concise reports using documentation templates, includes appropriate professionals on cc of reports following HIPAA guidelines, enters orders for future visits, and ensures safe handoffs via appropriate clinical information. Clinical Equipment Troubleshoots equipment, informs supervisor of issues, and works with supervisor to create a coverage plan until repair. Performs daily biological checks of all clinical equipment. Professional Development Participates in huddles and staff meetings, contributes to the development of evidence‑based protocols and guidelines, engages in department process improvement, serves on audiology committees and specialty teams, may supervise a practicum student after three years of experience, acquires continuing education for professional growth, and proactively shares knowledge with peers.
