$25.00 - $30.00 - Hourly

Job Description:

General Summary:

The Speech and Language Pathology Assistant will perform services and consultation with teachers at school sites; provide activities designed to develop language skills and articulation skills including speech production, vocalization and social pragmatics in students with speech/language disorders.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

- Conduct speech-language screenings using a variety of screening tools and techniques. - Follow documented therapy plans. - Documentation of student progress. - Prepare therapy materials for use in pullout small group setting or in classroom setting - Adapt or modify instructional materials as determined by student need and abilities for teacher-use in the classroom. - Consult with general education teachers to co-plan instructional materials or implement strategies. - Consult with general education teachers to co-plan instructional materials or implement strategies - Track performance data using progress monitoring tools and report progress on IEP goals - Communicate progress to parents, teachers and Speech and Language Pathologist in regular meetings, phone conversations and progress notes. - Participate in IEP process; attend meetings when appropriate and attend parent conferences - Collaborates with members of IEP Team, Special Education Team and School site team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

- Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles - Ability and willingness to implement students’ IEP’s - Effective record keeping and procedures - Speech, language, hearing development, disorders and rehabilitation - Articulation disorders and rehabilitation. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community. - Special education experience.

Education and Experience:

- AA Degree - Completion of a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant Program - Registration as a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California - 1 Year working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.
