Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift critical access hospital role requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Critical access hospital with 23 staffed beds on the Med/Surg Tele unit
• Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• 4 weekend shifts required per month
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• May float between units and sister facilities based on skill set and staffing needs
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Scrubs of any color accepted, with facility-provided scrubs for OR/L&D

Requirements

• Active compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• OR RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and port access/management
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and interpreting cardiac monitoring
• Experience with wound care and wound vac management
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with CVA, intracranial bleeds, and seizure disorder management
• Feeding tube care and heparin protocol experience preferred
• Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit including cardiovascular, orthopedic, and plastics patient populations
• Care for post-MI patients, surgical drain management, and total joint replacement recovery
• Floating to sister facilities within the region may be required based on census and staffing needs
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All time off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local candidate status
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position due to the travel experience requirement
• No parking fees for staff
