MO-KS Area Aviation Market Sector Leader

Area Market Sector Leader – Aviation Lead the MOKS Area by setting vision, executing the firm’s strategy to expand and provide aviation services to current and potential clients. Serve as client manager, project manager, and pursuit champion across a variety of complex multi‑discipline projects. Responsibilities Client Management & Development – Serve as client manager for key clients; identify and develop project opportunities; act as pursuit champion. Business Development Responsibilities – Assess the marketplace and determine the best business approach to win and secure contracts; work cross‑sector within and beyond the business groups. Be the client manager for selected key clients within the Area and be active and visible in the industry. Help develop and set Aviation Market Sector strategy for HDR. Promote and deliver all HDR services to clients while working with client managers. Collaborate with Area Business Group Managers and other leaders to develop and deliver area and market sector initiatives and goals. Drive client development and pursuit processes based on proven capture techniques. Lead selected pursuits through client relationship development or strategy development and participation in pursuit activities. Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role‑model in business and community organizations at local, area and national levels. Identify key investments (acquisitions and technology) to maintain or grow HDR’s industry leadership. Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations. Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations. Staff Development Responsibilities – Enhance practice capabilities, recruit staff, coordinate staffing and talent management. Coordinate within the Area and support cross‑department work‑sharing. Work with business class directors and practice groups to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff. Support staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist local leadership with local hires; identify resource gaps and support talent management. Operations Support – Deliver aviation services, monitor profit/loss, ensure project delivery, and support the QA/QC program. Take on project management assignments as appropriate for this leadership role. Preferred Qualifications 15+ years of experience in aviation planning and/or engineering. If an engineer, maintain engineering registration with area states. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, or related field. A minimum of 10 years of industry experience. Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services. Experienced in managing a wide range of client relationships and pursuit projects. Experienced in staff development, including recruiting, career pathing, and professional growth. Experienced with industry associations and maintaining a visible market sector profile. Ability to work cooperatively with regional and national market sector and business group leaders. Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
