Consultant, Data Product Owner (ESS & E-Risk)

Salary: $118,000 - 178,000 per year Requirements:

• We want candidates with undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education; graduate study in a related discipline is a plus.
• We prefer certification or designation such as CSPO, SAFe POPM, PSPO, or an equivalent product ownership credential, though it is not required.
• We look for five to eight years of relevant experience delivering technology-enabled business solutions.
• We value experience leading small to medium-scale initiatives across business and technology teams.
• We prefer experience with product roadmap development, business-case prioritization, SQL, and Python.
• We consider insurance or financial services industry knowledge an advantage.
• We need strong knowledge of data applications and practices, sound judgment, analytical thinking, and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• We seek excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to prioritize work, facilitate large meetings, influence senior leaders, resolve conflict, negotiate, and coach others.
• We require advanced SQL skills and Python knowledge, plus strong familiarity with P&C insurance, including ESS and Programs data domains.
• We prefer experience with data warehousing, Lakehouse architecture, enterprise data environments, Power BI and/or Tableau, and AI-enabled tools that improve delivery speed and analysis.

• We translate business needs into clear data requirements and act as the data-focused voice of the customer for our technology delivery teams.
• We define, maintain, and drive the vision, value, roadmap, and backlog for our data product.
• We source, validate, and deliver Policy, Claims, Coverage, and related data for reporting, analytics, operational decision-making, and predictive analytics use cases.
• We coordinate and support user acceptance testing by creating scenarios, validating outcomes, managing handoffs, and documenting data changes and impacts.
• We identify data defects, assess downstream effects, prioritize issues, and validate corrective changes to strengthen data quality.
• We partner closely with Programs Operations, Lifecycle Management, IT, DDS Data Engineering, Visualization, Data Governance, and product vendors to deliver trusted data products, reporting solutions, and visualizations.
• We develop actionable recommendations, perform exploratory analysis to resolve data questions, and help prioritize IT data work.
• We participate in agile ceremonies such as daily scrums, grooming sessions, status meetings, sprint planning, and reviews.
• We manage communications between Technology, business stakeholders, and requestors while removing blockers and clarifying risks.
• We define, track, and analyze metrics that measure the quality and success of our data solutions.
• We steward end-to-end data product knowledge, including upstream and downstream systems and processes.
• We advocate for data governance, oversee access requests and audits, and help ensure accurate use of data metrics.
• We prioritize and refine epics, user stories, and backlog items to support continuous delivery.
• We apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• We approve releases and support governance, defect resolution, and ongoing data accuracy.
