About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Must have a valid state license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Minimum of two years of experience - Charge experience preferred - Experience with a patient ratio of 6:1 Description: The Medical Surgical unit provides care to a variety of patients. The unit receives admissions from various departments, including surgery and emergency care. There is an average of 8-12 admissions over a 24-hour period. The goal is to maintain a 5:1 patient ratio, with the possibility of flexing to 6:1. Floating to other areas, such as ICU/PCU or emergency for holds, may occur but is not common. The unit consists of adult and geriatric patients, with a daily census of around 25. Common diagnoses include post-operative patients, dialysis, and those with heart conditions. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV therapy, respiratory services, and physical therapy. Staffing includes oversight by a charge nurse and support teams for patient care management. The unit aims for a collaborative atmosphere to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety. Candidates must work two of three major holidays.
