A love of travel attracts many people to the field, but to succeed as a Travel Consultant you must be passionate about travel and the endless opportunities it brings to bridge history, cultures and cuisine. Successful consultants require a strong sales drive, organizational skills with an eye for detail, an ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, proficiency navigating computers and various programs, and strong written and oral communication skills. What Does a AAA Travel Consultant Do? Sells international and domestic travel packages including cruises, land packages, travel itineraries, air, car, and hotel. Shares knowledge and expertise from personal experiences and/or educational study trips. Develops long‑standing relationships with members and builds referral and repeat business. Makes appropriate recommendations to ensure the trip experience exceeds expectations and is tailored to each member’s needs. Cross‑sells relevant products to enhance the trip experience, such as AAA Member Rewards Credit Card, and identifies theft referrals. For the right individual, this opportunity will be a career path for future leadership opportunities. Progress is evaluated on sales, customer service, administration, operations, up‑selling, cross‑selling, and goal achievement. Successful completion of a comprehensive criminal background check and a thorough urine drug screening. At least 2 years of experience in retail sales, banking, or a leisure travel agency within a goal‑oriented environment is preferred. Qualifications Travel is more than a hobby—it's a passion. Availability to work most Saturdays and some evenings to support goal achievement. Completion of our Travel Consultant Trainee program, which includes training travel. Motivation by sales and exceeding goals. Computer savvy with multitasking across multiple systems, web browsers, and Microsoft Office; typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
