15E James - Acute Leukemia and Hematology - 12 D/N or 12 N - CHEMO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED!!! Experience: Must have MS oncology and at least 1 inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history and checklist. A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required. First Time travelers: NO. Patient Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics Patient Diagnoses: Primarily care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. Medical unit - high number of blood products, IV antibiotics and electrolytes. Staffing Ratios: Goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5. Weekends: Variable based on unit needs. Schedule: No set/blocked scheduling. Self-schedule requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules before finalizing. Orientation: First week: Mon‑Fri dayshift. Second week: 36 hours of on‑unit orientation with a preceptor. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department's needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4‑week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Special Focus: Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols Patient falls prevention. Certifications Required: BLS ACLS ONS Chemo Cert. Certifications Preferred: NIHSS.
