Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT)Join our team as a day-shift, PRN, Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Harker Heights, TX.Thrive in a People-First Environment and Make Healthcare BetterThrive: We empower our team with career growth opportunities and resources that support your wellness, education, and financial well-being.People-First: We prioritize your well-being with a supportive, inclusive culture where you are valued and cared for.Make Healthcare Better: We use advanced technology to support our team and enhance patient care.Get to Know Your Team:Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services, and more.Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Care Tech (PCT) works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.Observe patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.This position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with a range of motion, and draws blood.QualificationsJob Requirements:BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.Must be competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross-competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function).Preferred Job Requirements:High School Graduate or GED.2 years of experience in acute or long-term care.Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.Currently enrolled in nursing school.
