VP, Strategic Pharmacy Partnerships
Free Market Health
Vice President, Strategic Pharmacy Partnerships
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, Free Market Health supports forward-thinking payers and specialty pharmacies of all sizes who need to operate in a complex and opaque market. We empower all stakeholders to optimize resources and maximize opportunities while focusing on the most important stakeholder of all: the patient.
The Role
We are seeking a Vice President, Strategic Pharmacy Partnerships to be the senior executive accountable for the success, growth, and strategic alignment of the organization's most complex pharmacy partnerships. This role oversees Health System Specialty Pharmacy (HSSP) accounts, Medically Integrated Dispensaries (MIDs), ancillary providers, and key supporting aggregators and advisors. The VP ensures that pharmacy partnerships deliver mutual value, operational excellence, and long-term strategic impact through close collaboration with internal pharmacy teams and external partners.
The VP, Strategic Pharmacy Partnerships has enterprise responsibility for managing and advancing high-impact, multi-stakeholder pharmacy partnerships within a segment focused on integrated health system and other ancillary provider types. This role leads a portfolio of HSSP, MID, ancillary provider, and aggregator relationships, with full accountability for account management, partnership performance, retention, expansion, and strategic alignment. Oversees relationships with supporting aggregators and advisory entities (such as PSAOs and specialty pharmacy consultants) while coordinating with Pharmacy Operations to ensure scalable pharmacy, claims, and support capabilities across diverse partner models. Collaborates closely with Pharmacy Enablement on complex implementations, onboarding, training, and program management, and with Pharmacy Strategy to develop new partnership models, specialty programs, and innovation initiatives.
This role materially influences specialty pharmacy growth, provider engagement strategy, and the organization's reputation as a trusted strategic partner.
What You'll Do:
- Own the executive relationship and overall success of HSSP, MID, ancillary provider, and aggregator partners
- Serve as the senior escalation and governance lead for complex partnership, operational, and strategic issues
- Lead and develop teams responsible for managing provider-based and specialty pharmacy relationships
- Partner with Pharmacy Operations to align operational capabilities with unique provider and specialty pharmacy needs
- Coordinate closely with Pharmacy Enablement on complex, multi-entity implementations and partner onboarding
- Collaborate with Pharmacy Strategy to design, pilot, and scale new specialty pharmacy and provider-aligned programs
- Drive partnership growth through expansion of services, program adoption, and long-term strategic planning
- Represent the organization externally as a pharmacy partnership leader with health systems, provider executives, and industry stakeholders
- Ensure consistent standards, governance, and performance management across all strategic pharmacy partnerships
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH, or PharmD strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, health systems, or healthcare partnerships
- Minimum of 5+ years in senior account management, strategic partnerships, or provider-facing leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience working with health systems, specialty pharmacies, provider-aligned pharmacy models, or aggregators
- Deep understanding of specialty pharmacy operations, provider workflows, and integrated care models
- Proven ability to manage complex, matrixed relationships with shared accountability and competing priorities
- Strong executive presence with the ability to engage senior provider, health system, and partner leadership
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Ability to travel up to 30%
Desired but not required:
- Direct experience supporting HSSP networks, Medically Integrated Dispensaries, or academic health systems
- Experience working with PSAOs, pharmacy consultants, or specialty pharmacy platform partners
- Background in specialty drug management, site-of-care strategy, or value-based specialty pharmacy models
- Prior experience building or scaling partnership organizations during rapid growth or transformation
- Experience representing pharmacy organizations in industry forums, collaboratives, or advisory councils
