Underwriter II, E&S Property

About the role As an Underwriting II in AXA XL’s Excess and Surplus business unit, you will deliver a profitable underwriting service, manage and underwrite a profitable book of new and renewal business, and act as the owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts. Responsibilities Manage and underwrite a profitable book of new and renewal business per AXA XL guidelines. Develop and structure tailor‑made risk solutions to win new business and retain existing customers. Analyze risk and determine terms and conditions as well as appropriate pricing in accordance with granted authority. Underwrite, evaluate risk, and assess completeness of the underwriting package. Communicate account status to ensure completion of outstanding subjectivities needed to execute policy issuance and premium collection. Manage the workflow of multiple tasks and maintain a detailed understanding of task status owned by Underwriter Assistants, Brokers, Reinsurers, and internal teams. Collaborate and correspond verbally and in written format with internal and external contacts across the world, considering local language, time zones and standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Underwriting and/or equivalent broker experience with robust knowledge of underwriting, rating methodologies, forms and business processes. Interpersonal skills to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups. Proven prioritization and time‑management skills with accurate results. Organizational, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers, and trading partners. Applicants for this role must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. The U.S. base salary range for this position is $87,400–$170,000 USD.
