Project Director (Mental Health Administrator 4 - Grants) (260004HJ) Organization: Behavioral Health Location: James A Rhodes Office Tower 8, 30 East Broad Street 8th Floor, Columbus 43215, USA Compensation: $40.40/hour (hourly position, pay range step 1 of E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule) Schedule: Full-time, Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm (hours may vary) Contact: View email address on click.appcast.io Overview At the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), we strive to exemplify The Heart of Hope for individuals and families affected by mental health and substance use disorders. The DBH employs over 2,800 dedicated employees across inpatient hospitals, Ohio Pharmacy Services, Ohio prison systems, and the central office located in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, OH. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, management, and execution of the SOR 4.0 project, ensuring objectives align with state and federal expectations. Oversee project compliance, quality assurance activities, and adherence to SAMHSA requirements. Develop and refine project processes and strategies to support effective service delivery. Monitor progress of funded partners and assist with identifying and resolving barriers. Prepare progress reports, grant applications, and other required documentation for state and federal stakeholders. Identify risks, assess challenges, and implement improvements as needed. Collaborate with agency leadership, local partners, service providers, and other state agencies. Lead public engagement efforts, including meetings, presentations, outreach, and stakeholder communication. Supervise professional and administrative staff assigned to the project. Support marketing, education, and public information activities related to program initiatives. Participate in meetings, conferences, and other events related to the project’s mission. Position Qualifications For all programmatic positions: completion of an undergraduate core program in mental health & developmental disabilities technology, social work or comparable field (e.g., child & family community services), special education, psychology or rehabilitation, or 24 months of experience in development & implementation of treatment/habilitation plans for persons who are mentally ill or developmentally disabled, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess consumers’ needs & abilities; 12 months of training or experience in state & federal regulations, standards & court orders governing care, custody, treatment, programming & environment of consumers in mental health or developmental centers, or regulating drug treatment center operations or federally funded drug abuse services, or governing delivery of psychiatric services in adult correctional institutions, or affecting community mental health programs (i.e., category of state & federal regulations directly linked to type of facility & services being provided). For all administration staff positions: completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration/management sciences or 12 months’ experience developing goals, objectives, policies & procedures of operational unit or program and monitoring implementation. In addition, candidates must have at least six months of training or experience in one of the following: supervisory principles/techniques, scheduling, monitoring & evaluating personnel, budgeting, determining budget needs & spending for operational unit or program, employee training & development, or manpower planning. Candidates may also qualify with six months of experience as Mental Health Administrator 3, designation 65223, or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment. Unusual Working Conditions: Travel may be required; may be exposed to communicable diseases and consumers/residents who may display erratic or violent behavior.
