Library Media Clerk - Clay and Delaware

SOUTHEAST POLK COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Media Center Clerk – Clay and Delaware Elementaries Location: Clay and Delaware Elementaries Hours: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday–Friday (30‑minute unpaid lunch) Reports to: Building Principal Job Goal: To provide media center assistance to students and teachers for a district dedicated to being an innovative, educational organization committed to providing learning experiences of superior quality which enable ALL students to successfully meet challenges now and in the future. Qualifications Prefer experience in library science. Prefer experience with/progressive attitude about computers. Knowledge of children's literature. Organizational ability. Experience in working with children. Minor mechanical ability. High school graduate. Physical fitness at time of hire, continuing employees every 3 years. Performance Responsibilities Maintain library collection at direction of district librarian. Assist students in finding appropriate materials. Assist teaching staff in securing appropriate reference materials. Under the direction of district librarian, assist students in use of the media center. Keep abreast of student literature materials in consultation with teaching staff. Assist teaching staff in securing AV equipment and materials. Provide minor maintenance on AV equipment. Maintain library area as a functional teaching center. Maintain library inventory. Recommend additions or deletions to the library collection. Book briefs for the reading rooms. Assist with seventh grade orientation for students. Library instruction within units of study. Provide an appropriate role model for the students. Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information. Other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment Employment based on need; report on days the students are in school. Hours and number of days assigned as needed. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
