Star Nursing has an Urgent Need for a Psychiatrist - Maricopa County, AZ Facility: Maricopa County Correctional Health Services
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Primary Assignment: Floating to all Maricopa County jail facilities
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Regular Business Hours
As per the County : "8-hour shifts. Likely sometime between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM - To be determined" Rates :
Local: $200/hr.
Travel w/ housing: $180/hr.
Travel no housing: $159/hr. (taxable) / $1,720 (non-taxable) Service Description
Provides psychiatric consultations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients receiving mental health services within a correctional healthcare setting. Evaluates new admissions to diagnose and treat identified mental illnesses and re-evaluates established patients to refine diagnoses and treatment plans as clinically indicated.
Prescribes medications in accordance with the CHS Pharmacy Formulary and participates in the management of patients requiring involuntary treatment, including Court-ordered evaluations and involuntary medication administration when indicated. Works as part of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and coordinates with the Forensic Team for patients participating in forensic programs.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and consultations
• Assess new admissions and diagnose mental health conditions
• Develop and manage individualized psychiatric treatment plans
• Re-evaluate patients and modify diagnoses and treatment plans as clinically indicated
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with the CHS Pharmacy Formulary
• Monitor patient response to psychiatric medications and treatment
• Participate in the management of patients requiring involuntary treatment
• Initiate Court-ordered evaluations when clinically indicated
• Order involuntary medication administration when appropriate
• Participate as a member of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment Team
• Assist with the development of Special Needs Treatment Plans (SNTP)
• Coordinate care with the Forensic Team for patients participating in forensic programs
• Participate in the development of psychiatric protocols and clinical practice guidelines
• Ensure psychiatric services meet applicable standards and correctional healthcare requirements
• Assist with preparation for licensure and accreditation surveys
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Supporting Documentation and Qualifications
• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited program
• Copy of diploma and/or transcripts verifying completion of the required medical degree
• Completion of an accredited U.S. Residency or Fellowship training program in Psychiatry
• Copy of applicable residency and/or fellowship certificates
• Current, valid, unrestricted license to practice allopathic or osteopathic medicine issued by the Arizona Medical Board
• Current completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) through the Arizona Medical Board Doctor Search
• Current DEA/Controlled Substance Registration Certificate authorizing the prescribing of Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances
• Current completed National Provider Identifier (NPI) verification
• Current completed and passing N95 fit testing
• Minimum three years of experience working as a Psychiatrist
• Ability and willingness to float between Maricopa County jail facilities
Maricopa County Mandatory Compliance Requirements
Step #1 - Security and Background Clearance
• Complete MCSO Application for Courtesy Identification
• Sign PREA Acknowledgement (Zero Tolerance Policy)
• Submit to Criminal History and Warrants Check
• Successfully complete the MCSO clearance process
• Complete fingerprinting appointment with Maricopa County Sheriff's Office upon receiving initial clearance
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• No sexually related offenses
• Minimum one year since completion of probation, parole, or incarceration
• No driver's license suspension within the past year
• Must disclose if a known person is incarcerated within the jail system
Step #2 - Health and Immunization Requirements
• Current TB test (Skin Test, QuantiFERON, T-Spot, or Chest X-Ray)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination
• MMR vaccination documentation or titer
• Varicella vaccination documentation, titer, or attestation of past infection
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR (In-Person)
Step #3 - Physical and Workplace Requirements
• Current passing N95 fit test
• Ability to perform CPR chest compressions
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
• Ability to push equipment and climb stairs
• Ability to travel between assigned Maricopa County jail facilities
• Commitment to the assigned full-time Monday-Friday schedule
• Signed Drug-Free Workplace Attestation
• Signed Physical Performance Attestation
Step #4 - Additional Requirements
• Compliance with jail dress code and prohibited item policy
• No personal cell phones or smart devices allowed in secure areas
• Badge must be worn at all times once issued
• ASRS Retirement disclosure if applicable
• All required credentialing, compliance, and onboarding documentation must be completed prior to start
