Forklift operator

We are seeking a detail-oriented, safety-minded Forklift Operator to join our optical manufacturing team. Unlike standard bulk warehousing, an optical lab requires moving fragile materials-including delicate glass/polycarbonate lens blanks, precision lab machinery, sensitive consumables, and finished eyewear-with extreme care. You will play a vital role in keeping our production floor supplied, organized, and running without interruption.

salary: $17.5 - $17.75 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM
education: High School

Responsibilities

• Fragile Material Handling: Transport delicate palletized loads, including lens blanks, liquid monomer drums, lab chemicals, and fragile optical equipment, safely through clean, high-traffic manufacturing zones.
• Production Supply: Ensure optical technicians and lab stations remain stocked with raw materials, trays, and packaging supplies to maintain continuous production flow.
• Loading & Unloading: Unload incoming shipments of optical blanks and lab supplies; stage finished orders for outgoing courier and freight transport.
• Inventory & ERP Scanning: Use handheld RF scanners to record inventory movements in real time, ensuring strict batch and lot tracking within our inventory management system.
• Precision Stacking: Navigate narrow aisles and tight spaces near high-tech lab machinery, executing smooth pick and drop operations to prevent vibration damage to delicate stock.
• Equipment Care: Perform daily pre-shift safety inspections on electric forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks; maintain clean battery stations and adhere to zero-emissions indoor standards.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working in a smoke free environment
• manual lifting up to 20lbs
• standing for 4 hours at one time
• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
