Project Estimator

Body shop estimator • West Palm Beach, FL Join our preconstruction and estimating team as an Estimator. You will develop complete project budgets, prepare detailed material and labor take‑offs, negotiate with suppliers, and support the Senior Estimator in delivering accurate bids for hard, negotiated, and value‑engineering proposals. Responsibilities Clearly understand the complexity of the scope of work as shown on the construction documents Prepare detailed take‑offs of materials and labor estimates using man‑hours, crew schedules, and equipment Organize material and labor information for pricing and solicit supplier prices Prepare unit prices, compare references, and assess market influences on pricing Lead subcontractor solicitation and selection, preparing invitation packages and bid lists Prepare and coordinate subcontractor documentation, including scope sheets, RFI’s, and bid packages Assist in preconstruction activities: collect drawings, confirm all documents, schedule site visits, and produce bid binders Attend site visits, turn‑over meetings, and weekly staff meetings; provide status reports Support bid day activities, including developing “plug” numbers and completing pricing spreadsheets Review bids and estimates with Senior and Chief Estimators, and participate in post‑bid discussions and staff training Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field 3–6 years of experience in estimating or equivalent Proficiency in quantity surveys, take‑off techniques, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) Ability to read and interpret construction documents up to the CD phase and prepare structured cost information Strong knowledge of CSI sections and construction translation skills Excellent communication, organization, and proposal preparation abilities Alignment with Suffolk core values (Passion, Integrity, Hard Work, Professionalism, Caring) Working Conditions Regularly required to sit for long periods, perform fine motor tasks with a keyboard, and use the telephone or written communication. Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work will be conducted primarily in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level; occasional site walking may be required.
