Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

Position Title Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Unit Sciences and Mathematics Salary Grade Faculty Duration Time-limited; 9 months Employment Type Full-Time, 40 hours per week Position Summary Applications are invited to apply for a nine‑month position in Biology at the Visiting Assistant Professor level beginning August 2026. Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related field; a PhD is preferred. Successful candidates will teach introductory courses for Biology majors and non‑science majors, including General Biology, and either Human Anatomy & Physiology or General Microbiology. Ability to teach all three will be considered a plus. The successful candidate will be welcome to apply for a tenure‑track position that will start in Fall 2027 if they have a PhD. Responsibilities Teach introductory courses in General Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and General Microbiology. Develop and implement course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments. Engage students in active learning and promote academic success. Participate in departmental meetings and community outreach. Utilize campus resources, including the Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center and nearby research sites, for educational and research activities. Qualifications Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field (must be attained by August 1, 2026). PhD preferred; post‑doctoral experience and/or teaching experience considered a plus. Strong teaching philosophy and commitment to student success.
