Job Summary : Approved Fire Protection is looking for a full-time Fire Extinguisher Technician. This is a great opportunity for someone who can test, inspect, clean, and install fire extinguishers mainly, and other safety equipment. As an Extinguisher Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in the shop, perform fire demonstrations and go out for field work.

Candidates should be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to diagnose and repair any reported problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

· Inspect, test, service, recharge, and install portable fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable fire codes, including:

- Water extinguishers

- ABC dry chemical extinguishers

- CO2 extinguishers

- BC dry chemical extinguishers

- Wet chemical extinguishers

· Inspect and repair emergency and exit lighting systems

· Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and required paperwork

· Complete inspection and service documentation accurately and timely

· Assist with shop operations, receiving, inventory, and warehouse organization

· Conduct customer fire extinguisher training and demonstrations

· Maintain company vehicles and perform daily pre-trip inspections

· Follow customer site safety and access requirements

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry between 50 to 100 pounds regularly.

· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders throughout the workday.

· Comfortable working in warehouse, commercial, and industrial environments.

· Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior experience in the fire protection industry; primarily with portable fire extinguishers.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be proactive in communicating and working with other departments.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background and random drug tests.
• Enjoy working in a team environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Current possession of, or willingness to obtain, a DOT HAZMAT endorsement within a specified timeframe after hire.
• Must be competent with all work-related power tools.
• Excellent work ethic
• Enjoy driving to different locations to service, pickup, and distribute services and goods.
• Must be able to work Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 PM

Required Qualifications:

· Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.

· Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

· Must be willing to travel throughout NJ as required to project field locations.

· Language: Must be able to read, write in English
