Construction Inspector

Job Description Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector in Houston, TX. Responsibilities Oversight of construction inspection to ensure roadways, bridges, drainage and related structures, traffic control, and environmental requirements are built in accordance with plans and specifications. Consult with project engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; review equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates. Ensure adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects; ensure material tests are performed and materials meet required standards. Drive contractors to ensure roadways, bridges, and related highway structures and/or airport improvements are built in accordance with plans and specifications. Document work progress and issues arising throughout the scope of the project. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned. Review construction records, inspection reports and records audits to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications. Mentor and develop technical employees in test and inspection procedures and material specifications. Track work progress. Develop Daily Work Reports (DWRs) in Site Manager. Verify all materials meet specifications and are performing as designed. Perform material testing and inspection at various locations, including laboratory, field, plant, and stockpile, utilizing required methods and equipment. Perform measurement and documentation of quantities on appropriate forms and in accordance with specifications. Lead the work of professional and technical employees in construction experience. Qualifications 6+ years of construction inspection experience on highways/roadways. Understanding of governmental laws, rules and regulations specific to the area of responsibility for safeguarding information and information technology related systems, inspection methods, procedures and techniques and testing methods, processes and procedures. Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps. Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements. Methods for reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with requirements. Construction engineering policies and procedures. Basic traffic management and control procedures.
