Job Description

We are seeking a reliable General Production Worker to support daily operations in a metal fabrication shop. This role involves performing a variety of hands-on manufacturing tasks, assisting skilled trades, and helping ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general manufacturing and production tasks throughout the fabrication shop.

• Load, unload, and move raw materials and finished products.

• Perform basic operations such as cutting, grinding, deburring, and cleaning.

• Support welders, fabricators, machine operators, and other production staff as needed.

• Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools, including grinders, drills, and saws.

• Conduct visual inspections of parts for quality and defects.

• Package, label, and stage finished products for shipment.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following 5S/housekeeping standards.

• Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and production instructions.

• Complete basic production documentation as required.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production, assembly, and machine operation.

• Proficiency in packaging, inspection, and the use of hand tools.

• Capability in machine operating and general labor tasks.

• Experience with packing, loading, and construction.

• Ability to interpret blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding shop is preferred.

• Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.

• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus, or a willingness to be trained.

• Ability to read basic work instructions or shop drawings.

Work Environment

Work in a metal manufacturing shop that is non-climate controlled, experiencing cold conditions in the winter and hot conditions in the summer. Fans and bay doors are available for air circulation. This role requires availability for the 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 6 PM to 2 AM, with potential overtime until 4 AM and some Saturdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fredericksburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $19.55/hr.
