This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Clinic in Rancho San Diego but may travel to other sites as needed. What you'll do:

• Rooming patients
• Checking vitals
• Assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
• Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry
• Acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC
• Basic registration and updating of demographics
• Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
