Position: Safety & Onboarding Specialist Location: Houston, TX Job Id: 1100 # of Openings: 1 Safety & Onboarding Specialist The Safety & Onboarding Specialist will be responsible for preventing, reducing and eliminating harmful situations in the workplace. The Specialist will monitor, audit, and control their assigned sites to ensure safety and compliance per Local, State and Federal regulations. The Specialist will serve in a supportive capacity for candidate onboarding experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze and monitor multiple DMCR workplaces for adherence to safety, health and environment guidelines Design programs to prevent disease or injury to workers and damage to the environment Identify chemical, physical, radiological, and biological hazards in the workplace Inspect/evaluate workplace environments and equipment to ensure safety standards and government regulations are being followed Complete and submit documentation required by local, state and federal agencies Counsel and guide site management in reportable incidence and/or accidents Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions Investigate accidents to identify their causes and to determine how it might be prevented Examines lighting, equipment, ventilation, and other conditions that may affect employee health, comfort, or performance Coordinates findings and their corrective actions to relevant departments Develop and conduct employee safety and training programs that cover a range of topics, such as how to respond in an emergency Ability to lead cross-functional safety relevant personnel to ensure organizational safety processes, procedures and compliance Coordinate New-Hire orientation and onboarding within the Human Resources umbrella Point of contact to liaise between different touch points to ensure a smooth, productive and enriching onboarding experience Assist onboarding teams with ensuring new-hires are set-up with their resources required to complete their role Assist in routine onboarding procedures Generate onboarding experience reports as needed Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or health sciences required Experience: 1+ years experience in a healthcare setting 1+ year in clinical research setting Understanding of Safety concepts and their application 1+ year working with large cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal Credentials: OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification or ability to attain within 3 months of position OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification or ability to attain within 3 months of position Knowledge and Skills: Requires exceptional presentation, delivery, facilitation skills and highly developed interpersonal Possesses strong team and client focus, must earn the trust and respect of executives Strong communication and comprehension skills Strong reporting and follow-up skills Knowledge of HR and onboarding processes Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information Must be able to work and lead cross-organizational projects Must demonstrate skills to effectively manage projects and client relationships Must be able to reset priorities to meet changing business needs and goals Requires innovation and conceptual thinking skills to analyze complex problems and propose solutions, often involving both technical and operational constraints.
