Job Description

ProspectBlue is partnering with a growing and well-established organization in the Toano VA area to identify an experienced Controller to join its leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys combining day-to-day accounting leadership with financial oversight and business partnership . The Controller will lead the accounting function ensure accurate and timely financial reporting strengthen processes and internal controls and provide financial insight to support the organizations continued growth.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly quarterly and year-end financial close processes
• Oversee general ledger activity financial reporting and supporting schedules
• Review bank and corporate credit card reconciliations
• Oversee accounts payable and vendor payment processes
• Oversee sales tax filings and related compliance
• Coordinate annual tax filings and work closely with external tax advisors
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
• Develop implement and maintain accounting policies procedures and internal controls
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support pricing profitability and business decisions
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes reporting and operational efficiencies
• Partner with senior leadership on budgeting financial planning and strategic business initiatives
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Lead and support the accounting team while fostering a collaborative accountable environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
• 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• 5 years of experience as a Controller Assistant Controller or in a similar accounting leadership role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting and internal controls
• Proven experience leading the month-end close process
• Experience overseeing AP reconciliations sales tax compliance and external tax relationships
• Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA designation
• Experience with Epicor Kinetic ERP
• Conversational Spanish with strong English fluency

Work Environment

This is an onsite MondayFriday position in Toano VA . Flexibility or occasional remote days may be available based on company policy and seasonal business needs.
