Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery

This full-time Physician Assistant role focuses on orthopedic surgery in Bishop, California, offering opportunities to treat a diverse patient population including total joint, knee, sports medicine, and acute orthopedic injuries. The position involves comprehensive patient care, perioperative support, and interdisciplinary collaboration in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with surgeons and the healthcare team
• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for orthopedic conditions and injuries
• Assist in the management of patients undergoing total joint and knee procedures
• Evaluate and treat sports-related injuries, including skiing and snowboarding
• Participate in assessment and treatment of acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions
• Assist surgeons with surgical procedures and deliver perioperative patient care
• Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and orthopedic assessments
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory tests within scope of practice
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs
• Provide preoperative and postoperative education and follow-up care
• Monitor recovery and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals

Qualifications:

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Current California Physician Assistant license
• Current DEA license
• BLS certification
• NCCPA certification (preferred or required)
• Demonstrated excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Preferred Skills:

• Three years of orthopedic experience is highly preferred
• Experience in orthopedic surgery is strongly preferred
• Background in total joint, knee, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care is highly desirable
• Experience treating skiing, snowboarding, and other sports-related injuries is a strong advantage
• Comfortable working with an active, non-geriatric patient population
