LPN Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN) will provide nursing care primarily on Medical Surgical/Observation units and float to other Med-Surg specialties as needed. This role requires managing a patient load with RN oversight, performing clinical duties including telemetry monitoring, and utilizing Epic EMR proficiently. The LPN will work night shifts and collaborate closely with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care. Responsibilities:

• Manage a patient load of 5 patients with RN oversight.
• Perform telemetry reading and monitoring competently.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Ohio LPN license.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience.
• Proficiency in Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
• IV certification.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry monitoring.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in multiple Med-Surg specialties including Surgical, Respiratory, Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation units.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every third weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Must pass telemetry competency on day one or face termination.
• Epic EMR proficiency is mandatory with no refresher training options.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week, night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Weekend work required every third weekend.
