Job Overview:

Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent required.

• Graduate of an AccreditedUltrasoundSchool.

• ARDMS Certification required.

• Must be CPR certified.

Preferred:

• Minimumthree yearsexperience in a hospital setting performing the following preferred:Abdomen, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Thyroid, Vascular, Pediatric,Biopsiesand Interventional Procedures.

• RVT

Essential Functions:

* Screen requisitions to ensure proper exams are being ordered and proper prep is called to the Nurse taking care of the patient.

* Ensure proper work flow is being maintained.

* Maintain positive relationship between Radiologist and sonographers.

* Assist Lead Technologist and Supervisor in the day to day operation.

* Primary person ensuring proper steps are taken in the documentation process of ultrasound exams (tracking/dictation of exam in timely manner).

* Initiate service calls and documents.

* Train fellow sonographers and students with complex and/or new techniques.

* Applies the knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.

* Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit, i.e. Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

* Assesses data reflective of each patient's status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient's age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs.

* Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies.

* Assists supervisor with review of co-workers sonograms to ensure that they are following departmental policy. Provide a list of positives and negatives of the sonogram for educational purposes.
