Vocational Specialist, Family and Community Medicine (Full Time) Posting Number: req26341 Department: Family and Community Medicine Location: Tucson Campus, 1501 N. Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 USA Position Overview The Vocational Specialist is responsible for implementing pre-employment transition services in local schools and collaborating with school and adult service agency personnel. They communicate and share information while engaging families and students with disabilities, develop vocational services, provide direct support, offer training on job sites, collect data, share resources, and maintain follow-up communications with local sites. Duties & Responsibilities Share relevant resources at local schools to connect students and parents with information regarding pre-employment services, individualized instruction, and support for youth ages 14-22 in community settings and local businesses; communicate, share information, and engage families and students with disabilities. Collect data and success stories, contribute to informational materials and resource development, and monitor and provide follow-up services at participating sites. Participate in project, team, and departmental meetings and keep the project coordinator and staff informed of local activities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with different groups and people. Practical ability to observe a job process, break it down into manageable steps, and teach it effectively. Capacity to maintain a calm, positive demeanor in challenging or stressful situations. Ability to identify performance issues and quickly create, implement, and adjust support strategies on-site. Capacity to build rapport with the student, school staff, and employers to foster natural support in the workplace. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or Psychology.
