Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensures patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes through skilled assessment, planning, and intervention.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and reevaluate patients' needs before, during, and after surgical procedures, including pain management and emotional support.
• Prepare the operating room and patient for surgery, verifying all preoperative tests, consent forms, and documentation are complete.
• Administer medications, including intravenous therapy, in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Collaborate with surgical team members to plan and implement patient care, ensuring adherence to standards of practice and safety protocols.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately and timely; communicate pertinent information effectively to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, postoperative care, and discharge plans, incorporating support resources as needed.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum of one year acute care nursing experience; OR-specific perioperative or OR experience preferred.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; IV certification preferred.
• Proficiency in peripheral IV insertion, nursing assessment, and patient monitoring required.
