Headquartered in Downtown Houston, Golden Pass LNG commenced operation of Train 1 in 2026 and continues to progress construction and commissioning on Trains 2 and 3. Once fully operational, Golden Pass LNG will have the capacity to produce over 18 million metric tons of LNG per year. Job Summary / Purpose : The Mechanical Technician is responsible for conducting complex mechanical and machinery maintenance activities at Golden Pass LNG safely and competently, without supervision. Prioritize mechanical and machinery maintenance work through Risk-based Work selection to ensure short- and long-term LNG plant safe condition, reliable operation and integrity. Apply best-in-class safe work practices to mechanical and machinery maintenance including consideration of SIMOPS; ensure “nobody gets hurt”. Provide on-the-job training for less experienced mechanical maintenance technicians such that mechanical maintenance team performance is continually improved. Interface with plant operations, other maintenance disciplines, engineering and safety, health and environment to ensure best-in-class LNG Plant safety and reliability. Essential Duties / Functions 1. Technical Leadership Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on mechanical devices, rotating equipment, and machinery using proper tools, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams. Take immediate troubleshooting action in the event of a safety or production downtime event by providing mechanical and machinery support necessary to secure the area and restore safe, stable operation as quickly as possible. Provide expert input during mechanical maintenance toolbox meetings, reinforcing technical expectations, safe execution practices, and task clarity. Reviews work packs in advance (i.e., at least 12–24 hrs.) develops required PSMS discussions and permits for supervisor review. 2.Reliability & Optimization Provide input to mechanical and machinery maintenance planning, applying risk‑based work selection to prioritize high‑risk and high‑impact tasks across the LNG plant. Provide insight to Planning on the development and improvement of execution work plans, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness. Support short‑and long‑term mechanical and machinery maintenance planning, including resource needs, sequencing, and operational constraints. Troubleshoot mechanical and machinery issues that impact — or may impact — safety, reliability, or plant integrity, taking proactive steps to prevent failures and equipment deterioration. Report mechanical and machinery bad‑actor observations to the Maintenance Reliability Team to support reliability analysis and bad‑actor elimination efforts. 3. Compliance & Documentation Ensure adherence to the Golden Pass Management System (GPMS), especially for mechanical and machinery work that involves SIMOPS. Ensure that process safety risk assessments (JSA, isolation verification, LOTO, pressure release, testing, etc.) are applied to all mechanical and machinery maintenance activities. Verify that equipment and systems are properly isolated and tested to ensure safe job readiness with minimal risk before maintenance begins. Ensure all regulatory-required mechanical work meets specification and is performed within required compliance windows. Provide accurate documentation in the Centralized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including notifications, work orders, task details, materials, and findings. Provide expert input during toolbox meetings to reinforce safe work practices, proper troubleshooting methods, and mechanical maintenance discipline. Model proper use of diagnostic tools, correct interpretation of mechanical drawings, and high‑quality maintenance execution for less‑experienced technicians. Encourage continuous learning and adherence to safe mechanical handling, correct isolation, and process discipline. Use advanced available mechanical diagnostic equipment, such as vibration analysis tools, alignment equipment, and thermographic devices, to improve troubleshooting accuracy and system reliability. Support improvements in maintenance planning, PM strategy development, and CMMS data quality to enhance long-term reliability. Promote the use of modern tools, updated vendor recommendations, and evolving maintenance technologies to improve reliability and reduce downtime. Minimum education required High school and/or technical college diploma required. Minimum experience required: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mechanical technician maintaining large rotating equipment machinery in a large process plant. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required: In-depth knowledge of plant mechanical equipment and machinery. Good understanding of machinery controls (Motor controls, GE Speedtronic and Compressor Controls). Understanding of process safety and inherent risks of working in a hydrocarbon environment. Competent at troubleshooting and solving complex mechanical and process machinery problems to ensure plant safety and reliability. Demonstrated knowledge of the SSHE/WMS/GPMS/CIMS/FIMS requirements. Experience in the application of these management systems, including monitoring effectiveness and driving improvement. Fully conversant with all safety and work permitting process and procedures, HAZOP Program, Incident Reporting, and Environmental Response. Required Job Competencies: Driven to achieve best-in-class mechanical and machinery reliability, dependability, safety and integrity results. Self-starter with ability to work strategically under little direction. Able to navigate through HMI displays on various types of equipment. Strong attention to details. Certificates and licenses required: State issued Current and Valid Driver’s License – Pursuant to PHMSA, this is a DOT covered position with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining thereof. Covered task qualification. Working Conditions: May be outside in typical Texas weather for 10-hour shifts with periodic health breaks and/or in LNG Plant control room. During emergencies and process upsets, potential exists for overtime past the normal 10-hour shift. Physical Requirements: Sufficiently physically fit to endure working conditions stated above.
